This beach was amazing! We saw turtles resting on the sandy beach. Two monk seals came ashore to play right in front of us! The shore was rocky in places.Full review by alisaplaz2

This is the famed sea turtle beach. Every day, around sunset, green sea turtles come out onto the beach for some rest. The turtle zone is cordoned off, but you can still get quite close. We did not g…Full review by Dlsio4

If I could give it more I would. Up close and personal with turtles and monk seals. Water was calm and beautiful. Slightly over crowded in the afternoon.Full review by Robert R

Is there overnight parking allowed? We have been there many times and have not seen signs with hours. We would have a car visiting the next property only and not sleeping in our car.

Your question re: parking being answered above, but did want to add : You will not find a better Beach anywhere IMHO! My husband and I went to Poipu every day during our two week stay a few years ago. We went very early, and often were the only two on the beach. (Before 10am) The water was always warm and clear and the beach sparkling clean! Not sure if the Captain Zodiac Rafting excursion (with stops for snorkeling in and around waterfalls, etc.) is still being offered, but if it is, be sure and take advantage of this "once in a lifetime" experience. We will always think of Kauai as the "True Hawaii" that most people expect, and don't always see if they keep their vacation too close to some of the other "busy" and very crowded Islands. (*FYI: I was born and raised on Oahu!)

We had rented a car for our stay so I am not sure of the cost if too expensive there must be a public beach in Lihue somewhere. When in Hawaii go swimming!! Good Luck
