Google announced at I/O on Tuesday that it's launching a Gemini integration in Chrome, giving users access to a new browsing assistant.
If you don’t feel like typing, Gemini in Chrome also lets you switch to its “Live” feature by selecting the button in the bottom-right corner of the dialogue box. From there, you can simply ask a question out loud, and Gemini will respond by speaking to you.
Google is also using “Gemini” as a catch-all for various AI functions, much in the same way that Microsoft uses Copilot as an AI brand. Google, like Microsoft, is pushing agentic AI, where various bits of autonomous AI work independently to pursue tasks.
