Detroit — Colton Herta started Sunday’s Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix from the pole, but it was his Andretti Global teammate Kyle Kirkwood battling Team Penske driver Will Power for the win after a restart with a dozen laps remaining on the bumpy, tight nine-turn, 1.7-mile temporary street course.
The 2025 Detroit Grand Prix is set for Friday, May 30-Sunday, June 1. The 1.7-mile, nine-turn street circuit begins on Jefferson Avenue and ends at the intersection of Schweizer Place and Franklin Street, featuring a 0.7-mile straightaway on Jefferson between Rivard and Griswold streets. Admission gates open at 8 a.m. daily.
On Thursday, construction crews were finalizing the last details for this weekend’s Detroit Grand Prix. If you’re planning to visit for the event, the city of Detroit says you will definitely notice the increased security presence.
Colton Herta posted the fastest time at at 1:00.477, marking the second straight year he won the pole on the streets of Detroit.
Team Penske will race at this weekend’s Chevrolet Detroit GP with the same temporary additions to the timing stands of its three entries.
