Detroit Tigers rookie reliever Dylan Smith was optioned to Triple-A Toledo between games of Wednesday’s doubleheader in Washington. The move came just moments after Smith was awarded his first career win for throwing 3 1/3 scoreless innings in the Tigers’ 11-2 victory in Game 1 at Nationals Park.

Nathaniel Lowe hit a go-ahead triple with the bases loaded in the eighth inning and finished with four RBIs as the Washington Nationals rallied to beat the Detroit Tigers 9-4 Wednesday night for a doubleheader split.

Riley Greene hit a pair of three-run homers, Jake Rogers also hit a three-run shot and Spencer Torkelson had a solo homer.
