The 5-11, 177pound Hagens had a very good year at BC but he didn’t have the same kind of sensational season that last year’s No. 1 pick, Macklin Celebrini, had at Boston University. But playing between Ryan Leonard and Gabriel Perrault, Hagens had 11-26-37 totals in 37 games.

The Bruins selected Hagens, who grew up an Islanders fan in Hauppauge and attends Boston College, with the seventh overall pick in the NHL Draft on Friday night at the Peacock Theater. He matches Mike Komisarek, who was selected seventh overall by the Canadiens in 2001, as the highest-ever pick from Long Island.
