Jody Demling, who has nailed four of the last seven Belmont Stakes winners, reveals picks for 2025 Belmont Stakes horses like Sovereignty, Journalism and Rodriguez

Journalism — the Kentucky Derby post-time favorite who finished second in that race, before then winning the Preakness Stakes — is the 8-5 morning-line favorite for Saturday’s 157th running of the Grade 1, $2 million Belmont Stakes. Journalism will begin Saturday’s Belmont from post position No. 7 near the outside of the field.

For McCarthy, the 54-year-old former assistant to Todd Pletcher, the Preakness was his second career Triple Crown triumph. He sent Rombauer to the winner’s circle in the 2021 Preakness. Rombauer then cashed a show ticket in the Belmont Stakes.
