The Royals needed a great start from Michael Wacha on Saturday afternoon, and the veteran righty delivered by dueling Tigers ace and reigning American League Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal for seven innings.

Michael Wacha said he had plenty left if needed. Wacha had the fourth-longest no-hit bid of his career before yielding a one-out hit to Colt Keith in the seventh inning of the Kansas City Royals’ 1-0 victory over the Detroit Tigers.

The Kansas City Royals broke through in the bottom of the eighth inning off reliever Beau Brieske and ended the Tigers’ five-game winning streak, 1-0.
