All-Star starter Tarik Skubal won his first game since June and Javier Baez homered, doubled and knocked in four runs as the Detroit Tigers beat the Philadelphia Phillies and ace Zack Wheeler 7-5.

The Detroit Tigers hit four home runs and Tarik Skubal outdueled fellow ace Zack Wheeler in a 7-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park. The Tigers (65-47) and Phillies (62-48) have split the first two games of the series and will play the rubber match in a nationally televised game on Sunday night.

The Philadelphia Phillies get their lockdown closer for the bullpen in a trade with the Minnesota Twins for reliever Jhoan Duran.

Phillies fans were looking forward to seeing both when the team’s new closer, Jhoan Duran, would come on to pitch for the first time after being acquired in a July 30 trade with the Twins. The Phillies and American League Central-leading Detroit opened a three-game series at Citizens Bank Park Aug.
