Nissan is considering plans to shut two car assembly plants in Japan and overseas factories, including in Mexico, sources said on Saturday, as part of a cost-cutting plan the company flagged earlier this week.

Nissan Motor Co. plans to close two factories in Japan, as well as locations in four other countries as part of its restructuring and cost-cutting process, the Yomiuri newspaper and other news outlets reported,

Nissan is reportedly considering shutting down multiple car assembly plants in Japan and overseas as part of a sweeping cost-reduction plan. Sources say the Japanese automaker may close the Oppama and Shonan plants,
