A high school lacrosse player from Ohio has died after suffering an injury during a game earlier this week. Bay Village High School sophomore Dylan Veselic died Thursday morning, the school announced in a statement. He was 16 years old.

Teammates and members of the community gathered Thursday for a prayer service in honor of Dylan Veselic, held at Saint Raphael Catholic Church.

Dylan Veselic, a 16-year-old high school lacrosse player from Ohio, died this week following injuries suffered during a game. The Bay High School sophomore was struck by a ball in the back of the head on Tuesday before being rushed to the hospital in an ambulance and flown to another medical facility, where he received emergency surgery.
