The head of the Massachusetts State Police offered a statement Thursday following Karen Read’s acquittal on murder and manslaughter charges.

Massachusetts State Police and Brockton Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide, according to the Plymouth DA’s office. Police received a 911 call Wednesday afternoon from the landlord at 643 North Main St. — reporting that his upstairs tenant found both his son and his girlfriend dead on the floor of their residence.

State Police Colonel Geoffrey D. Noble expressed condolences for the loved ones of John O’Keefe and said the department has taken steps to improve its investigative training methods.
