The former Three Mile Island nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania may restart in 2027, about a year ahead of schedule after being put on a fast track to connect to the regional grid, executives with the plant's owner Constellation Energy said on Wednesday.

The former Three Mile Island plant, the site of the worst nuclear accident in U.S. history, could be restarted as soon as 2027, executives said Wednesday, largely thanks to the shuttered nuclear facility’s partnership with Big Tech.

At a Wednesday rally, Gov. Josh Shapiro, energy officials, and tech executives celebrated the planned reopening and shared plans to reopen Three Mile Island Unit — now called the Crane Clean Energy Center — as early as 2027.
