Super Bowl LIX was not a good night for the Chiefs offensive line and the prospect of improving their protection would look a lot dimmer if right guard Trey Smith is in a different uniform come September.

The Kansas City Chiefs have invested a lot in their offensive line. They've made three different linemen among the highest-paid players at their respective positions, with Joe Thuney, Creed Humphrey and Jawaan Taylor checking in near the top of the charts for guards,

Chiefs GM Brett Veach emphasized that re-signing right guard Trey Smith is a top priority for the team. Veach mentioned that they've already had productive discussions with Smith and his agents, and he feels optimistic about their chances of retaining him.
