After exiting Friday's game in the third inning, Boston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman has been placed on the injured list and could miss an extended period of time.

Bregman said an MRI showed a “pretty severe” strain comparable to the left quad strain he had in 2021 that kept him out nearly 10 weeks.

In between games of Saturday's doubleheader with the Orioles, the Red Sox put Alex Bregman, who has a "significant injury" to his right quad, on the injured list and called up Marcelo Mayer, the No. 6 prospect in baseball and a key cog in their future.
