Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip 3 earlier this month at its Unpacked event. The Z Flip 3, which is the successor to last year's Z Flip and Z Flip 5G, got a nearly $400 price cut.

On the Z Flip and Z Flip 5G, the screen was a tiny 1.1-inch (300 x 112) display made for ants. On the Z Flip 3, the cover screen is 1.9 inches (512 x 260) and actually usable.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is available for preorder and will launch on Friday Aug. 27. To tempt you more, Samsung and carriers are offering a number of trade-in deals that lower the Z Flip 3's price.

As the full name suggests, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G does support 5G connectivity. And the good news is Samsung is supporting Sub-6 and mmWave networks with the Z Flip 3.

Unlike the Z Flip 5G, which was released last August starting at $1,450, the base Z Flip 3 will retail for $1,000. It'll be available for pre-order on Aug. 11 with full availability set for Aug. 27.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is still expensive at $1,000, but it's a more viable option than previous foldables. It's an excellent phone all around, except for the short battery life.
