There are major delays for northbound drivers on Highway 99 on Friday morning, with traffic taking 95 minutes to get from Modesto to Manteca at one point.

The northbound Highway 99 connector to westbound Highway 50 closes 10 p.m. Friday for the weekend-long work ending 5 a.m.

The project will add a second lane at a tight spot for Bay Area commuters, some of them from Stanislaus County.

Construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Highway 13 and Highway 99 south of Montgomery is expected to begin June 1, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
