Severe storms were sweeping across the central U.S., and forecasters warned tornadoes could turn dangerous across several states.
Michigan hasn’t experienced more than four deaths caused by a tornado since an EF-3 tornado struck downtown Kalamazoo in 1980. The Friday tornadoes touched down near Edwardsburg, in Three Rivers, in Calhoun County and the Union City area. A 12-year-old boy died outside Edwardsburg and three people died in Union City.
At least eight people were killed and dozens injured after powerful storms and tornadoes hit parts of Michigan and Oklahoma.
