A Miami-Dade deputy was shot and killed during an altercation near a warehouse on Friday afternoon, leading to a massive police response.

The officer, Roger Smith, was shot and killed while on duty at 9 a.m. Police said a suspect was in custody but has not yet been charged.

The man's identity has not been released, and authorities declined to comment on the homicide investigation that led to his warrant.
