The feature lets you work and use your apps with a familiar PC-style layout. Well, now Samsung seems to be working on a DeX redesign based on the leaked Android 16’s native desktop mode.
Samsung has delivered a revamped DeX experience in One UI 8 based on Android 16’s new desktop mode and, while most functionality is there, you might find some little tidbits that are different.
In One UI 8, Samsung has removed many of these classic DeX elements. The dedicated DeX tab in settings no longer exists and has been replaced by a “Connected Display” menu.
Samsung Auto DeX is apparently Samsung DeX, which is hooked to Samsung Auto, not the other way around. The desktop mode needs to be enabled on the primary phone, not the head unit.

The end result is, Samsung’s new DeX supports real fullscreen in One UI 8. Just don’t expect to find it easily. You'll need to long-press that maximize button to escape the header and taskbar.
