The 54-year-old left State College on Monday after the Nittany Lions' loss to Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff last week, and was officially named the Clemson Tigers' defensive coordinator on Wednesday.

Allen, the former Indiana head coach and Penn State defensive coordinator, will make $1.9 million in total salary in 2025, $2 million in 2026 and $2.1 million in 2027. That makes him the highest paid assistant on staff, jumping offensive coordinator Garrett Riley (annual salary of $1.75 million).
