A major winter storm is beginning to impact the Tri-State, with 10 to 16+ inches of snow expected before late Sunday.

Dangerous wind chills are continuing on Saturday morning, and a massive winter storm sweeping across the U.S. is expected to bring snow to the Chicago area in the evening hours.

A massive winter storm prompted weather alerts across much of the United States on Saturday. Alerts stretched 2,000 miles across the United States as more than 180 million people were under watches or warnings for ice and snow,

It's still several days off, but we could see winter weather this weekend. Impact and timing will likely change, but we want to give you an early heads up!

FOX Carolina’s news and First Alert Weather teams will be providing updates on winter storm impacts for the western Carolinas throughout the weekend.

The Extreme Cold Warning will last until 1 p.m. Saturday with dangerous wind chills as low as 30 to 40 below zero in Lewis & Jefferson County and wind chills of 20 to 40 below in St. Lawrence County which could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

All 254 Texas counties woke up under some form of weather alert as a massive winter storm began its trek across the eastern half of the country.
