The character known as Ororo Munroe first appeared in 1975's Giant-Size X-Men #1. Hailing from a long line of African witch-priestesses, she's widely considered one of the most powerful mutants on the planet, and a natural leader.

So why does it seem as if she might have been born to play the iconic Wicked Witch of the West in “Wicked,” Jon M. Chu’s musical movie adaptation of author Gregory Maguire’s 1995 “Wizard of Oz” prequel novel and its 2003 Broadway musical?

"I know it sounds frivolous, but I think that we haven't uncovered how grand she is," the Wicked icon explained.

"I really want to play Storm...I think we haven’t uncovered how grand she is and all of the inner turmoil that she has."

Wicked star Cynthia Erivo has revealed her next dream role is to play Storm from X-Men in a Marvel Studios film. Erivo told the National Board of Review that she wants to explore the character's depth and "inner turmoil" more than what's been done previously.
