On Tuesday CenterPoint Energy notified customers it is monitoring the low-pressure system offshore of Florida's east coast, designated as Invest 93L, as it moves over the Florida Peninsula toward the Gulf.
The National Hurricane Center thinks a tropical depression could form in the Gulf in a few days. Forecasters continued to track an area of low pressure that was in the western Atlantic Ocean just east of the Florida peninsula on Tuesday. It is expected to move westward, across the Sunshine State, and into the Gulf by Wednesday.

The odds have increased that a tropical depression will form in the Gulf this week, but first, the tropical system has to cross Florida and dump even more rain on the state. On Tuesday morning, the National Hurricane Center upped the chances of development to 40% in the next two to seven days.
