The successor to the first stock market index is getting up there with the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite in all-time-high territory.
Shares of Otis Worldwide Corp. plunged 12.38% to $88.49 Wednesday, on what proved to be an all-around great trading session for the stock market, with the S&P 500 Index rising 0.78% to 6,358.91 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 1.
The Dow, S&P 500, and Nasdaq rose as the stock market reacted to the U.S.-Japan trade deal and digested more earnings reports. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq hit closing records.
A trade spokesperson for the European Commission (EC), Olof Gill, noted that “the EU’s primary focus is on achieving a negotiated outcome with the US”, but noted that the EU remains ready to use its anti-coercion instruments (ACI) to fast-track retaliatory tariffs should a trade deal fall through.
Shares of Viatris Inc. VTRS advanced 1.41% to $9.37 Wednesday, on what proved to be an all-around positive trading session for the stock market, with the S&P 500 Index SPX rising 0.78% to 6,358.91 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA rising 1.14% to 45,010.29.
