Update: DOTD reported just before 9:40 p.m. that I-10 East has been reopened but advised that traffic is still backed up to Elysian Fields Avenue.
A man accused of leading police on a vehicle pursuit that ended in a crash on Interstate 10 has been arrested, according to documents Louisiana State Police filed in Criminal District Court.
The interstate was eventually reopened but the exit and entrance lanes for I-10 east at mile marker 103 are still closed. Detours utilizing service roads, as well as the University and Louisiana Ave. exits are available to traffic needing to enter I-49 from I-10 E.
Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry was in Washington, D.C., Wednesday to ask for help to lower commercial tolls planned for the new Interstate 10-Calcasieu River Bridge in Lake Charles. He also spoke about the need for a streamlined federal environmental review process and help in building the I-10 Bridge in Baton Rouge.
