The White House said Sunday that a deal between Lebanon and Israel had been extended until February 18, as Israel missed a previous deadline to pull troops.

White House instructs Pentagon to send 2,000-pound bombs to Israel, after the shipment was paused by the Biden administration last May.

The announcement came hours after demonstrators, some of them carrying Hezbollah flags, attempted to enter several villages to protest Israel’s failure to withdraw.

The United States says the ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Shia Muslim group Hezbollah in Lebanon will continue to be in effect until February 18.

The Trump administration says more time is needed beyond next week’s scheduled end to the U.S.-backed cease-fire to halt the threat from Hezbollah.
