Matt Shakman is the director of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. While Shakman only has one feature movie directing credit on his resume (the 2014 movie Cut Bank ), he does have Marvel experience, having directed all nine episodes of the Marvel Disney Plus series WandaVision. Now he’s getting to officially play in the MCU sandbox.
The release of the latest trailer for Fantastic Four evokes a feel-good, retro space-age vibe that complements the Man of Steel’s themes. Unlike Barbenheimer before it, the SuperFantastic double feature is primed to make you feel like it’s a return to the Silver Age of comic books. Take a look below:
The Fantastic Four: First Steps director Matt Shakman has reiterated that the movie is a standalone story that doesn't require any homework on Marvel fans' part.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the four stars of the film – we're assuming that means Alex Hyde-White (Reed Richards), Jay Underwood (Johnny Storm), Michael Bailey Smith (Ben Grimm), and Rebecca Staab (Sue Storm) – have a cameo in the upcoming Marvel Phase 6 movie.
