Shares of Rivian Automotive Inc. fell after hours on Tuesday after the electric-vehicle maker forecast a bigger loss for this year, amid what it called “significant uncertainty” about the economy and EV-related policy.

Rivian Automotive reported a higher-than-expected quarterly loss on Tuesday as disruption in supply of rare earth metals used to make parts of its electric vehicles raised costs and income from credits sold to traditional automakers dwindled.

Rivian reported a 97-cent loss per share, compared to 77 cents expected, according to Bloomberg average of analysts. Shares fell 4.4% to $11.62 during after-hours trading (Nasdaq: RIVN).
