Kings Fall To Jets In A Blowout

Mark Scheifele had a case to make Team Canada's Olympic hockey roster. In the end, the Winnipeg Jets ' leader was one of the most obvious snubs from the superpowered team. Scheifele spoke with The Athletic's Chris Johnston on Thursday about missing the roster, and he was matter of fact about things.
On the ice, the Jets showed urgency from the opening shift. Vladislav Namestnikov scored early to end a 29-game drought, followed by a goal from Cole Koepke. Jonathan Toews, who is playing his first season since his 2023 hiatus, later made it 3-0, snapping his 26-game slump.
Scheifele has five points over the last six games, but that production has come from a pair of multi-point efforts. The 32-year-old remains one of the Jets ' most reliable forwards even as his consistency has faltered in recent weeks. He's at 50 points (20 goals, 30 assists), 91 shots on net, 22 PIM and a plus-6 rating over 42 outings this season.
