It may not be as cute and charming as the original, but it’s still fun. The live-action “Lilo & Stitch” remake will engage kids in particular, because it has some of the same goofy family-friendly shenanigans typical of 1960s Disney fare.
So, Nani returns to the ocean to save Stitch and carries him back to shore underwater. It was a moment to show Nani’s strength as well as her love for both Lilo and Stitch. Plus, it was an excellent way to end this climactic moment.
When co-writers/directors Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders first brought Stitch into this world, it was an especially experimental time for the company following the much beloved Disney Renaissance. Movies like The Emperor’s New Groove, Atlantis: The Lost Empire and Treasure Planet also came out during this more eccentric and adventure-filled era.
While Disney’s live-action remake has had a lukewarm critical reception, it’s left fans overjoyed and nostalgic
