NYU Langone Health on Monday named Dr. Alec Kimmelman as its next chief executive officer and dean of New York University’s Grossman School of Medicine — concluding a comprehensive nationwide search.

The plan, which is now on "pause," was to bring a teaching hospital onto the campus of Nassau Community College in Uniondale.

NYU Langone is now in talks about siting "a major hospital" at the Canon USA Inc. headquarters in Melville, the health system's board chair told Newsday.
