Elon Musk’s Robotaxi dream has become a reality with the launch of a pilot autonomous cab service in select areas of Austin, Texas. Currently, the service is invite-only and not yet open to the general public.

The rollout, which took place over the weekend, marks the first time Tesla vehicles have carried paying passengers without a human driver.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate the Tesla AI software and chip design teams, calling the achievement the “culmination of a decade of hard work.”
