EAST ALTON -- An East Alton teenager has resurfaced, but police continue to investigate the disappearance of her stepmother on June 25.

When questioned by the officer, Heather Woodward, 43, admitted to buying the car using a fake name, date of birth, social security number, address and phone number.

Heather Woodward, then 17, had left home days before her stepmother vanished. According to multiple sources, Carroll allowed the teenager to stay at his house but barred her from phones or computers.

Heather Woodward, 43, is accused of using a false ID to purchase a 2021 Nissan from Ken Garff Nissan of Salt Lake. Police said they were able to locate the vehicle around the Mt. View Corridor area.
