Critical evidence that was logged a month after police collected it. Defense lawyers at the trial of Karen Read – a Massachusetts woman accused of hitting her cop boyfriend with her SUV and leaving him for dead – are aggressively going after evidence being used against the 45-year-old woman.

A contested accident reconstruction expert testified Tuesday, explaining a series of experiments and measurements that he conducted involving her SUV.

Miami neurosurgeon Dr. Aizik L. Wolf told jurors a fall backward was “the only way” O’Keefe could have sustained his fatal head injuries.

Elizabeth Laposata is a clinical associate professor of pathology and laboratory medicine at Brown University's Warren Alpert School of Medicine. She is a graduate of Bucknell University and the University of Maryland who now resides in Providence.

The prosecution appears to be on the verge of resting its case in the Karen Read retrial, which resumes Tuesday after Memorial Day.
