Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen shared his thoughts after news that Kilmar Abrego Garcia has returned to the U.S. to face federal charges, nearly four months after he was mistakenly deported to El Salvador.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Maryland man mistakenly deported to El Salvador, is back in the United States after being indicted in Tennessee on federal charges involving migrant smuggling, Attorney General Pam Bondi said.

Democrats have questioned the Trump administration’s claim that Garcia is a member of the MS-13 gang and depicted him as a hardworking “Maryland Man.” Attorney General Pam Bondi, after Garcia landed back in the U.S., addressed the development in a press conference, saying he was “a smuggler of humans, and children, and women.”
