Sal Frelick circled the bases after his tying home run cleared the center-field wall Wednesday afternoon, then he chucked his helmet in the dugout while letting out a yell. It wasn’t out of anger. It was an emotional release meant to fire up the ballclub.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Milwaukee’s offense was held scoreless through its first two games this week, but the Brew Crew struck for seven late runs Wednesday against the Guardians’ bullpen and held on to hand Cleveland a 9-5 loss at Progressive Field.

Wednesday’s power breakfast didn’t produce a sweep of the Brewers, but the Guardians have still won nine of 12 series to open the season. Thursday is an off day, a day to hit the snooze button three or four extra times. Still, the Guards need some energy to pack for a 10-game trip to Cincinnati, Minneapolis and Detroit that begins Friday.
