WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Tuesday that Poland’s parliament will hold a confidence vote on his government on June 11, as the country faces a “new political reality.” He called for the vote after his political ally, the liberal Warsaw mayor, lost Poland’s weekend presidential election to conservative Karol Nawrocki.

With Karol Nawrocki elected president, the conservative Law and Justice party retains its ability to block the agenda of pro-E.U. prime minister Donald Tusk.

In a victory for European conservatives inspired by President Donald Trump, Nawrocki secured 50.89% of the vote, election commission data showed.
