RDL variations An RDL is a vertical hip extension movement and therefore will always be more of a lower glute dominant movement. A b-stance RDL is challenging stability more than a regular RDL so you will get some of the glute medius/minimus working to stabilize the pelvis. This goes for any lengthened unilateral movement. A b-stance RDL with rotation will lengthen the upper glutes a bit more compared to a regular RDL. Which will challenge the medius/minimus. But you’re still getting lower glute

NOT ALL RDLs are equal! The reason why the first RDL variation is better than the second is simply because the weights follow the path of resistance. RDLs are a vertical movement. The resistance should be moving in a vertical direction. In the second clip, when doing RDLs with a cable attachment you remove/change the path of resistance. The resistance is moving horizontally, but the movement is still vertical. I can say with the second clip, I felt a good stretch on the way down, but felt NOTHIN
