Do you remember Flipper? Here's footage of the Miami Dolphins' mascot retrieving a football during the 1966 inaugural season. From 1966 to 1968, Flipper was situated in a tank behind the east end zone of the Orange Bowl. The dolphin would jump out of the tank and perform flips after every score. Flipper's tank was removed after 1968 to save on costs. The Miami Seaquarium brought the Flipper tank back to the Orange Bowl during the 1978 season. Miami started its inaugural season 0-5. Quarterback George Wilson Jr., who was the son of the team's head coach, threw a 67 yard touchdown pass to fullback Billy Joe.
