LISTEN UP! 🎧 I’ve chosen not to overlay this video with music so you can hear exactly what I hear when filming. Pointe shoes against the floor is pure ASMR! I start this section from the Black Swan pas de deux coda (Cuban version) with 27 hops en pointe in arabesque en arrière (going backwards) before moving into a manège of 13 piqué pirouettes. I finish with a double and throw in some swan arms for a little extra drama - exciting, terrifying, and so satisfying once it’s done! The lovely @sadle

Going en pointe is not a race. It’s a process that needs to be handled with care. With data, evaluation, and preparation. Every dancer is different. Some may be ready earlier, some later. That’s why teachers must take time to assess, to understand how each student’s strength and alignment are developing. But if you delay it too long, you risk missing the years when the body is most adaptable. The transition from soft shoes to pointe has to happen at the right moment, not rushed, but not too late
