Lucille Ball was a dear friend — and a close mentor — to Carol Burnett. Lucy was a guest on Burnett’s highly successful CBS-TV special Carol 2, and Carol later appeared on The Lucy Show. Ball reportedly offered Burnett her own sitcom, Here’s Agnes, to be produced by Desilu Productions, but Carol declined because she didn’t want to commit to a weekly series.
