🏈On February 26, 1989 just one day after Jerry Jones purchased the Dallas Cowboys, he fires Tom Landry as head coach. Landry had been the head coach for Dallas for 29 years, since the Cowboys' inception in 1960. Jones hired Jimmy Johnson, his former teammate at the University of Arkansas. Since the dismissal, Jones has indicated he regrets the process of Landry's firing.
